Dr. Ben Carson said during an interview on ABC’s “This Week” that plans for what to do with passengers from a coronavirus-stricken cruise ship set to land soon in San Francisco aren’t “fully formulated,” but a plan will be in place by the time the ship arrives. Carson, a world-famous brain surgeon, is a member of the White House’s coronavirus task force. There are about 3,500 passengers and crew on the aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship, of which 21 have tested positive for the virus. “I don’t want to preview the plan right now,” Carson said. “I think it needs to all come from a solitary source. We shouldn’t have 16 people saying what the plan is, particularly when it hasn’t been formally formulated.” “The vice president met with the CEOs of the major cruise ship companies yesterday, and they are coming up with a plan within 72 hours of that meeting,” he said. He said a plan will be in place with “72 hours.” Host George Stephanopoulos points out: “The ship’s docking tomorrow.” “The plan will be in place by that time,” the HUD secretary countered. “But I don’t want to preview the plan right now.” “I think it needs to all come from a solitary source,” he said. “We shouldn’t have 16 people saying what the plan is. Particularly when it hasn’t been fully formulated.”
