Joe Biden spoke about telling George Floyd’s daughter that her “daddy is going to change the world” and suggested an alternative to defunding the police during an interview that will air in full on Tuesday night on CBS. “They’re an incredible family, his little daughter was there, the one who said ‘daddy’s going to change the world’, and I think her daddy is going to change the world,” Biden told CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell about his meeting with Floyd’s family. “I think what happened here is one of the great inflection points in American history, for real, in terms of civil liberties, civil rights and just treating people with dignity.” “Do you support defunding the police?” O’Donnell asked. “No. I don’t support defunding the police. I support conditioning federal aid to police based on whether or not they meet certain basic standards of decency and honorableness, and in fact, are able to demonstrate they can protect the community and everybody in the community,” Biden replied.
