In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the sports industry is adapting with the new normal by taking health and safety seriously as sports resume — the MLS bubble is one of the few leagues that resumes in Orlando, Florida. The protocols are strict and the league understands the fragility of the standards set in place. Currently, games are being postponed to ensure that every protocol is executed perfectly to protect everyone on site.
Commissioner Don Garber released a statement that puts safety as the primary focus, saying that “If there is a situation at any time that I believe that the protocols aren’t working and the health and safety of our players is at risk, then I will make the decision to shut down the tournament […] That is something I committed to the players and to our entire league early on. But this is proving that our protocols worked and our plan so far has been sound.”
